The qualifiers, drawn on Thursday, February 13, in Cairo, Egypt, set up high-stakes clashes as seven teams battle for the remaining CHAN 2024 slots.

Algeria, benefiting from their top ranking in the past three CHAN tournaments, received a bye into the second qualifying round, leaving six teams to fight for two available places in Group C.

The first round of the second qualifying stage features three crucial matchups: Comoros vs. Malawi, South Africa vs. Egypt, and The Gambia vs. Gabon. The winners of these two-legged ties will advance to the next round.

In the second round, the victor of Comoros/Malawi will take on the winner of South Africa/Egypt, with the overall winner securing a place in Uganda’s Group C.

Meanwhile, the winner between The Gambia and Gabon will face Algeria, with the final spot in the group up for grabs.

The first leg of the opening round will take place between February 28 and March 2, with return legs scheduled for March 7-9.

The decisive second-round encounters will follow between May 2-4 (first leg) and May 9-11 (second leg).

CHAN 2024 Group Stage Draw:

  • Group A: Kenya, Morocco, Angola, DR Congo, Zambia
  • Group B: Tanzania, Madagascar, Mauritania, Burkina Faso, Central African Republic
  • Group C: Uganda, Niger, Guinea, Qualifier 1, Qualifier 2
  • Group D: Senegal, Congo, Sudan, Nigeria

Set to take place from August 2-30, 2025, CHAN 2024 will feature 19 teams.

As the countdown to the qualifiers begins, Ugandan fans eagerly await to see which teams will complete Group C’s lineup.
