Uganda Cranes defender Mustapha Kizza is on the verge of making a return to the Uganda Premier League (UPL) with Express.
A highly placed source, speaking to NBS Sport on condition of anonymity, confirmed that Kizza is close to rejoining the Red Eagles, with an official unveiling expected soon.
If the deal materializes, this will be his second stint at Express in just six months.
The left-back initially left Express in October 2024 to sign with Egypt’s second-tier side, Telecom.
He had originally joined Express on a one-year contract, as a free agent from KCCA which included a clause allowing him to leave if a suitable opportunity arose.
However, the specifics of his contract at Telecom were never publicly disclosed.
Now, Kizza appears set to return home, reigniting his presence in Ugandan football with the seven-time UPL champions.
Kizza Spotted at Express Match
It remains a developing story, but this reporter bumped into Kizza at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo on Wednesday after Express suffered a 2-0 defeat to BUL.
His presence at the match has further fueled speculation that his return to Express is imminent.
During the game, an own goal from Emmanuel Wasswa in the 13th minute put Express behind before Pascal Ngobi sealed the win for the visitors in the 40th minute.
The loss saw BUL rise to sixth place with 23 points, while Express remains third with 25 points.
