Kitara’s impressive turnaround in the Uganda Premier League continued on Monday with a commanding 2-0 victory over Soltilo Bright Stars at Royal Park in Butema, Hoima City.
Goals from Living Kabon and Patrick Kaddu ensured the Royals extended their unbeaten run to nine matches while maintaining their defensive solidity.
Kabon broke the deadlock in the 22nd minute, capitalising on a well-delivered corner from Frank Zaga Tumwesigye. The midfielder’s close-range finish gave Kitara an early advantage in front of their home crowd.
Bright Stars attempted to mount a response, with Noordin Bunjo and Kizanyiro testing Kitara’s backline in the second half, but their efforts were repelled by the hosts’ resilient defense.
Kitara sealed the victory in the dying moments of the game when substitutes John Bosco Byaruhanga and Patrick Kaddu combined to devastating effect.
Byaruhanga delivered a pinpoint cross from the right, and Kaddu, who recently rejoined the club, finished with a well-timed half-volley to secure his first goal since his return.
The win marks a significant upturn in form for Kitara since the arrival of head coach Wasswa Bbosa.
Having endured a difficult start to the season, the Royals have transformed into one of the league’s most formidable sides, now boasting nine consecutive clean sheets.
Their last defeat came on November 1, 2024, against the same Bright Stars team.
Kitara’s victory lifts them to fifth place on the table with 25 points, reinforcing their ambitions for a strong league finish.
Meanwhile, Bright Stars’ struggles persist as they remain rooted in 15th place with just 11 points, leaving them in a precarious battle against relegation.
Elsewhere, UPDF edged Mbarara City FC 1-0 at Kakyeka Stadium, with Martin Owalamu’s own goal proving decisive in a tightly contested match.
