Jane Asinde: Ensino Move is “Right Step”

Jane Asinde, the captain of the Uganda Women’s National Basketball Team, was officially introduced as the latest addition to Durán Maquinaria Ensino for the second half of the Liga Femenina Endesa season.

Speaking at the unveiling on Tuesday, Asinde expressed her enthusiasm for the opportunity to start her European career with the Spanish club.

“I chose Ensino because they reached out to me, and I believe it’s a great opportunity to begin my career in Europe,” said Asinde in her introduction.

“After my experience in China and completing my university stage, this is the right next step for me,” she added.

Asinde also shared her excitement about joining a team that plays with a fast tempo and strong team dynamics.

“I saw a team that plays very fast, works on good shooting, has good transitions, and shows strong rebounding in both areas. I’m excited to be a part of that,” she added.

The forward, who also excels as a center, expressed confidence in her ability to contribute to her new team.

“I consider myself a complete player who can contribute in various positions. I’m ready to bring my experience and versatility to Ensino,” she noted.

Her move to Spain follows a stellar performance with the Uganda Women’s National Basketball Team at the AfroBasket Zone Five Qualifiers.

Asinde, who captained Uganda to a place in the Afrobasket Women’s finals was also named MVP for the tournament.
