Denis Omedi endured a tough outing as APR FC suffered a 1-0 defeat to Mukura Victory Sports on Sunday, dealing a blow to their Rwanda Premier League title hopes.
The Ugandan forward, who had been in stellar form with a brace against Kiyovu Sports and an assist in APR’s recent 4-0 Peace Cup win over Musanze FC, failed to make an impact before being substituted at halftime.
Omedi, who joined APR in January, had quickly established himself as a key figure in the club’s attack, but against Mukura, he found little space to operate.
The home side’s high press and compact defense limited his usual movement, and he struggled to link up with his teammates in the final third.
Mukura took the lead in the 19th minute through Congolese forward Destin Exauce Malanda, and APR never truly recovered.
Coach Darko Novic made four changes at halftime, including withdrawing Omedi in favor of Gilbert Mugisha as the team chased an equalizer.
However, Mukura’s disciplined backline held firm, ensuring APR left Huye Stadium empty-handed.
The defeat leaves APR four points behind league leaders Rayon Sports, who were held to a 1-1 draw by Amagaju.
For Omedi, it was a game to forget, but given his recent form, he will be eager to bounce back in the next fixture.
