Vipers’ Nigerian Forward Abubakar Lawal Passes Away

Vipers Sports Club Nigerian forward Abubakar Lawal has passed away. Lawal, born on September 3, 1995, played as a centre forward and had been part of Vipers since 2022.

This season, he made eight appearances in the Uganda Premier League, though he did not register a goal or assist.

In the previous campaign, he featured in seven matches and scored twice.

Before joining the Ugandan club, Lawal played for AS Kigali in Rwanda and had stints with Nigerian sides Nasarawa United and Wikki Tourists.

His sudden passing is a major loss to Vipers and the football community at large.

Update:

A police report confirms that on Monday morning Lawal Abubakar fell from the third floor of Voice Mall in Bwebajja. The report also states that he was rushed to a nearby medical facility but died on arrival.
