Buhimba United Saints continued their impressive surge towards promotion to the Uganda Premier League with a statement 3-0 victory over Onduparaka at the Aba Bet Green Light Stadium in Arua.
The visitors made light work of their West Nile hosts, leaving no doubt about their credentials in the heated race for a top-three finish.
Edson Agondeza set the tone for Buhimba’s dominant display, scoring just two minutes into the game.
January signing John Wesley Kisakye doubled the advantage in the 35th minute with a composed finish; his first goal since joining from Booma, before Congolese forward Luca Mola sealed the victory in stoppage time.
The win was Buhimba’s eighth of the season, lifting them to third place with 29 points, just two behind leaders Blacks Power (31) and one adrift of second-placed Gaddafi (30).
With their confidence soaring, Buhimba have positioned themselves as serious contenders for automatic promotion to the country’s top tier league.
For Onduparaka, however, the defeat was another bitter pill to swallow. Once a powerhouse in Ugandan football, their struggles continue, as they now find themselves slipping further down the table.
With just 23 points from 16 matches, they have dropped to 7th place, their promotion hopes now hanging by a thread.
