Uganda Cranes captain Aucho Khalid has assured fans that the team is fully prepared and ready to fight for victory as they take on Mozambique in their FIFA 2026 World Cup Qualifier in Cairo.
The midfielder emphasized the positive atmosphere in camp, noting that the players are in good condition and eager for the challenge.
“The boys are fine, everyone is motivated and in good condition. They are getting what the coaches are telling them, and we are ready to fight for our nation,” Aucho stated.
With the game being played in Egypt due to Mozambique’s lack of a FIFA-approved home stadium, Aucho called on Uganda’s supporters to turn up in large numbers and cheer them on.
“I know we have several fans here in Egypt. We call upon you to come and support us tomorrow. It would mean a lot to us to see you in the stands,” he urged.
The veteran midfielder also stressed the team’s shift in focus from their AFCON qualification campaign to the World Cup qualifiers, highlighting the significance of the upcoming fixture.
“We finished the qualifiers for AFCON, and now our focus is fully on the World Cup. This is a big competition, and we are ready for this new challenge,” Aucho noted.
He remained optimistic about Uganda’s chances, pointing out that football can be unpredictable and home advantage is not always a guarantee.
“Sometimes football is different. You can play at home and not win, and you can play away and get the result. Even though we are the away team on paper, we are prepared to take our chances,” he added.
