Gaddafi Football Club have ended their association with head coach Allan Kabonge following a string of disappointing results in the FUFA Big League.
Kabonge, famously nicknamed “The Messiah” for his track record of securing promotions to the Uganda Premier League with teams like Masavu, Onduparaka, and Paidha Black Angels, was unable to replicate his magic at the Entebbe-based club.
The decision comes after a difficult spell for Gaddafi, which has lost three of its last five matches.
Despite sitting second in the league standings with 31 points, four behind leaders Buhimba Saints United, the club felt a leadership change was necessary to keep their promotion hopes alive.
Kabonge, who was appointed at the start of the season, led Gaddafi to nine wins, four draws, and four losses over 17 league matches.
However, management determined that a fresh perspective was needed to regain momentum in the promotion race.
Sources suggest Robert Mukasa is being considered as Kabonge’s interim replacement, with discussions reportedly progressing well.
Mukasa could take charge as the team prepares to face Calvary in an away fixture on Sunday, March 30.
