Kampala Junior League Champions Gender Equality with New Sports Initiative

A groundbreaking initiative aimed at promoting gender equality in sports has been launched in partnership with the Kampala Junior League (KJL).

The program seeks to create more opportunities for young female athletes while fostering inclusivity in grassroots football development.

The initiative, backed by key stakeholders in Ugandan sports, will provide structured training, mentorship, and resources to ensure that both boys and girls receive equal access to competitive play and skill development.

Organizers emphasized the importance of breaking traditional barriers that have limited female participation in sports and highlighted the role of youth leagues in shaping the future of the game.

The Kampala Junior League, known for nurturing young football talent, will implement new policies to ensure fair representation of female players in competitions, coaching programs, and leadership roles within the league.

Additionally, workshops on gender sensitivity and equal opportunities will be held to educate coaches, parents, and players on the importance of diversity in sports.

With Uganda’s growing reputation in international football, the initiative is seen as a significant step toward ensuring that female athletes are not left behind.

Advocates hope that the project will inspire more young girls to take up the sport and eventually contribute to the national and international football scene.
