Manchester City striker Erling Haaland is set to consult a specialist following an ankle injury sustained during Sunday’s FA Cup quarter-final victory against Bournemouth.
The Norwegian forward was substituted in the 61st minute after scoring the equalizer in City’s 2-1 win, which secured their place in the semi-finals.
Haaland, who has scored 30 goals in 40 appearances this season, was later seen leaving the Vitality Stadium on crutches with his left ankle in a protective boot.
On Monday, City confirmed that while further tests are required to determine the full extent of the injury, they expect Haaland to be fit to play again this season, including in the FIFA Club World Cup this summer.
Despite missing a penalty and two key chances during the match, Haaland turned Nico O’Reilly’s cross into the net to level the score before Omar Marmoush sealed the victory for Pep Guardiola’s side.
The FA Cup remains City’s only opportunity for silverware this season after a challenging Premier League campaign and early exits from the Champions League and Carabao Cup.
Guardiola has faced numerous injury setbacks throughout the season, with City currently sitting fifth in the Premier League, just one point behind Chelsea in the race for Champions League qualification.
