MTN Uganda has joined the people of Buganda in commemorating the 70th birthday of His Majesty, Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II, by spearheading impactful community activities under the theme “Tubeere balamu.”
On April 3rd, 2025, celebrations kicked off with initiatives aimed at fostering unity, well-being, and communication within the community.
One of the highlights was a life-saving blood donation drive held at the Old Taxi Park, organized in partnership with the Nakasero Blood Bank.
The initiative encouraged public participation, reinforcing the essence of community solidarity and the importance of saving lives through blood donation.
To make the event more accessible, MTN MoMo provided discounted transport fares for passengers in 50 taxis operating at the Old Taxi Park. This five-hour gesture ensured that many could conveniently partake in the day’s activities while alleviating travel expenses.
Moreover, MTN Uganda launched exclusive voice bundles designed for the central region, enhancing communication and information sharing.
Customers could access 35 minutes of talk time for just 1,000 UGX by dialing *100*21*1#. The offer emphasized fostering connections, whether for personal, health, or business purposes.
Speaking at the event, Augustine Lule, Regional Business Manager for Kampala, expressed MTN’s dedication to the community: “At MTN Uganda, we believe in standing together with our people to create a lasting impact. By donating blood, supporting one another, and fostering better communication, we truly embody the spirit of Buganda and MTN. Together, our impact is Unstoppable.”
This celebration of the Kabaka’s milestone birthday not only honored the cultural heritage of Buganda but also showcased MTN Uganda’s commitment to uplifting communities and driving meaningful change.
