Evanilson’s clinical performance earned Bournemouth a hard-fought 2-2 draw against West Ham United at the London Stadium, extending the Cherries’ winless Premier League streak to six matches.
The Brazilian striker continued his fine form, netting twice to deny the Hammers all three points in a thrilling encounter.
Evanilson opened the scoring in the 38th minute, seizing on Alphonse Areola’s spill after a low shot from Antoine Semenyo.
This marked his third consecutive game with a goal. Despite Bournemouth’s dominance in the first half, they went into the break with only a one-goal lead after Illia Zabarnyi’s header rattled the crossbar moments before halftime.
The second half saw a spirited resurgence from West Ham, fueled by the introduction of German striker Niclas Fullkrug. In the 61st minute, Fullkrug headed home James Ward-Prowse’s pinpoint cross for the Hammers’ first shot on target, leveling the score.
Seven minutes later, Jarrod Bowen gave West Ham the lead, converting Mohammed Kudus’ cross with a well-placed header.
However, Bournemouth fought back, finding an equalizer in the 79th minute. Dean Huijsen’s clever flick from a quick free-kick set up Evanilson to tap home his second goal of the day, securing a valuable point for Andoni Iraola’s side.
This marked Evanilson’s sixth goal in six games, highlighting his importance amidst the absence of Bournemouth’s top scorer Justin Kluivert.
The result moves Bournemouth to ninth in the table with 45 points, keeping their hopes for European qualification alive. Meanwhile, West Ham remains 15th with 35 points, with Graham Potter’s men still searching for consistency.
For Iraola, the draw was bittersweet, as his team’s early dominance ultimately gave way to West Ham’s surge. Bournemouth’s winless streak stretches back to mid-February, leaving them six points behind fifth-placed Manchester City with a game in hand.
Potter, on the other hand, will be encouraged by Fullkrug’s impact following his lengthy injury layoff, as well as Bowen breaking his barren spell at home.
