The Kampala Zone Racket Games qualifiers got off to an exciting Girls School on Saturday April 5, as teams from across the zone competed to secure spots for the upcoming national showpiece.
The qualifiers serve as a pathway to the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) Ball Games One, set to take place at Bukedea Comprehensive School from May 4 to 14, 2025.
Group A saw dominant performances from Mbogo High School and Nabisunsa Girls, both maintaining flawless records after two matches.
Mbogo High defeated Nabisunsa Girls and Mengo SSS with identical 3-0 scores, while Nabisunsa secured victories over Lubiri SS and Mengo SSS.
In Group B, Rubaga Girls showcased their prowess, achieving an impeccable record with three victories, including 3-0 wins against Kakungulu Memorial and Mariam High.
Kakungulu Memorial managed a consolation win over Mariam High School.
The boys’ matches highlighted fierce competition, with Kibuli SS taking center stage.
Kibuli outplayed Lubiri SS 3-0, while Mengo SSS struggled against Kakungulu Memorial and Kibuli SS, losing both encounters 3-0.
Bishop Cyprian suffered defeats to Mengo SSS and Lubiri SS in straight sets.
In girls’ table tennis, Mbogo College demonstrated supremacy with two flawless victories over Caltec Academy, while Nabisunsa Girls fell short against Mbogo High.
Meanwhile, the boys’ matches saw Caltec Academy dominate Mengo SS, while Mbogo College overwhelmed their opponents with consistent 3-0 wins.
The qualifiers continue today as teams aim to secure their place at the national games.
