Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic was relieved of his duties as Uganda Cranes head coach in September 2023.
But in true Micho fashion, the Serbian tactician didn’t stay out of the game for long.
In October 2023, just a month after his departure from Uganda, Micho landed a new role as head coach of the Libyan national team.
He signed a one-year contract and got off to a flying start, going 11 matches unbeaten—a run that impressed the Libyan FA enough to hand him a contract extension in July 2024, extending his stay by 16 months.
However, football is a results-driven business.
A shaky start to Libya’s 2025 AFCON qualifying campaign saw his side draw 1-1 with Rwanda—his former employers—before falling 2-1 to Benin.
Those results proved costly, and Micho was shown the exit door in September 2024.
Once again, the veteran coach didn’t stay unemployed for long.
In January 2025, he was unveiled as the new head coach of Sudanese giants El Merrikh.
Due to the ongoing political instability in Sudan, El Merrikh, along with rivals Al Hilal, now compete in the Mauritanian Premier League.
Unfortunately, Micho’s time in charge of El Merrikh was also short-lived.
After overseeing 10 matches (4 wins, 4 losses, and 2 draws), he was sacked in April 2025 following a 1-0 defeat to ASC Snim.
He departed the club alongside assistant coach Dusan Stojanovic—also a familiar face to Ugandan football fans, having previously managed Villa.
Interestingly, Stojanovic is now reportedly being considered by KCCA as a potential replacement for Abdallah Mubiru, who was recently relieved of his duties.
