Newcastle United assistant coach Jason Tindall has stated that there is no definitive timeline for Eddie Howe’s return to the dugout, following the manager’s hospitalization with pneumonia.
Howe, 47, missed Newcastle’s emphatic 4-1 victory over Manchester United on Sunday and will also be absent for their upcoming matches against Crystal Palace and Aston Villa.
“He’s in the best possible hands,” Tindall assured. “He’ll be back as soon as he feels he’s ready to come back 100% to lead the team. It’s something we’ll assess day by day, based on the guidance of those caring for him.”
Despite his absence, Newcastle players, led by captain Bruno Guimarães and standout performer Harvey Barnes, dedicated the win against United to Howe.
They expressed their determination to “put a smile on his face” as the Magpies strengthened their push for a Champions League spot, trailing third-placed Nottingham Forest by just one point with seven games remaining.
Howe, who has been instrumental in Newcastle’s resurgence since taking charge in November 2021, guided the Magpies to their first domestic trophy in 70 years with a Carabao Cup triumph in March.
Tindall, who has worked alongside Howe for 17 years, expressed confidence in leading the team during this critical period. “We know what we need to do to deliver performances the manager would be proud of,” he said.
