Masaka SS emerged victorious in the Masaka Zone qualifiers of the USSSA National Boys Football Championship 2025, which concluded on April 13 in Lyantonde.
The tournament, hosted by St. Gonzaga Kijjukizo, featured 47 schools competing for a spot in the national finals.
Masaka SS sealed their place at the top with a 2-0 win over Norte Dame High School in the final match. Mukisa Thomas opened the scoring in the first half, while team captain Shabil Lubega added a second goal after the break to secure the championship.
Despite a determined performance from Norte Dame, Masaka SS’s organized defense and tactical execution proved decisive.
In the third-place playoff, Wagwa High School edged St. Henry’s Kitovu 9-8 in a dramatic penalty shootout after a goalless draw in regulation time.
Wagwa held their nerve from the spot to claim the final qualification slot.
As a result, Masaka SS, Norte Dame High School, and Wagwa High School will represent the Masaka Zone at the USSSA National Boys Football Championship scheduled for May 5–15 at Ngora High School.
They will compete against other zonal champions for national honors.
