Aston Villa has announced ambitious plans to increase the capacity of Villa Park to over 50,000, with a major redevelopment of the North Stand.
The club aims to complete the project by the second half of 2027.
The North Stand will see its seating capacity more than double, from approximately 5,000 to 12,000. Smaller upgrades to the other three stands will contribute to the overall increase from the current 42,918.
“Aston Villa fans have been electrifying Villa Park for generations,” said Chris Heck, Villa’s president of business operations. “We will now be able to offer this incredible experience to thousands more.”
The redevelopment plans ensure that the stadium’s current capacity will not be reduced during construction.
This expansion comes as Aston Villa enjoys a resurgence under manager Unai Emery, reaching the Champions League quarter-finals.
The club’s owners have backed Emery in the transfer market, and the stadium upgrade reflects their ambition.
Villa Park is also a host venue for the Euro 2028 tournament.
