FIFA Council and CAF Executive Member, Souleiman Hassan Waberi, met with Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud in Mogadishu on Tuesday during a three-day visit.
Accompanied by Somali Football Federation (SFF) President Ali Abdi Mohamed, Waberi also held talks with Somali football officials, club presidents, Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre, the Mayor of Mogadishu, and sports authorities.
SFF President Mohamed welcomed Waberi’s visit. Waberi conveyed greetings from FIFA President Gianni Infantino and CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe to the Somali President, Prime Minister, and the football community.
Waberi, also President of the Djibouti Football Federation, was elected to the FIFA Council in March. His visit signals closer ties between Somalia and international football bodies.
