Liverpool have reportedly opened new contract talks with defender Ibrahima Konate after learning of Paris Saint-Germain’s strong interest.
With Konate’s contract expiring next summer, the Reds are keen to secure his long-term future.
However, Liverpool are also eyeing Bournemouth’s Dean Huijsen as a potential replacement should Konate depart.
PSG recently eliminated Liverpool from the Champions League, adding urgency to the contract negotiations.
If no agreement is reached with Konate, Liverpool may consider selling him to avoid a free transfer.
Huijsen has impressed at Bournemouth, contributing to seven clean sheets this season and outperforming Konate in blocks, interceptions, and clearances in the same number of games.
While Konate leads in aerial duels and tackles, Huijsen’s proactive defending is noted. Chelsea, Arsenal, and Newcastle are also reportedly interested in Huijsen, valued at £50 million.
This Sunday, Konate will aim to help Liverpool clinch the Premier League title against Tottenham, while Huijsen will be key for Bournemouth against Manchester United in their pursuit of European qualification.
