Tanzania Lionesses Roar into AFCON Semi-Finals, World Cup Dream Within Reach

Tanzania’s women’s futsal team is just one step away from making history as they gear up for a crucial semi-final showdown against Cameroon today in the inaugural CAF Women’s Futsal Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025.

Kick-off is scheduled for 5:00 PM local time at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat, with a coveted spot in both the AFCON final and the first-ever FIFA Women’s Futsal World Cup in the Philippines on the line.

The Tanzanian squad has impressed throughout the tournament, navigating a tough Group C with grit and determination.

Their campaign began with an electrifying 4-4 draw against Madagascar, showcasing their attacking prowess.

This was followed by a commanding 3-1 victory over Senegal, a match that saw Najiati Idrisa earn the prestigious ‘Woman of the Match’ award for her stellar performance. Key players like Donisia Minja, Vaileth Nicholas, and Anna Katunzi have also been instrumental in the team’s success, consistently delivering impactful performances.

Standing in their path to glory is Cameroon, who advanced to the semi-finals as the best runner-up. Their journey included a hard-fought 6-5 victory over Namibia, despite an earlier loss to host nation Morocco. This sets the stage for a tense and unpredictable encounter between two determined sides.

The stakes for today’s match are incredibly high. The victors will not only proceed to compete for the inaugural AFCON title but will also secure one of Africa’s coveted slots in the first-ever FIFA Women’s Futsal World Cup, scheduled to take place in the Philippines from November 27 to December 7, 2025.
