Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta declared the club’s Champions League ambitions stretch beyond the semifinals, speaking ahead of their first-leg tie against Paris St Germain.
Riding high after a dominant 5-1 aggregate victory over holders Real Madrid, Arteta praised his team’s “mindset” and “spirit,” stating, “We are making history… but we want more.”
Arsenal’s first Champions League semifinal in 16 years sees them face a PSG side smarting from their first league defeat of the season.
While midfielder Thomas Partey is suspended and defender Riccardo Calafiori injured, Ben White and Mikel Merino may return for the Gunners.
Despite the impressive run, Arteta downplayed favouritism, citing Arsenal’s lack of Champions League history.
However, he emphasized the team’s belief, fueled by their performances against top opposition, including a previous win over PSG in the group stage.
“The players… feel like we can face these guys and be better than them,” Arteta affirmed, highlighting their “real belief and determination.”
