Vipers coach Fred Muhumuza has acknowledged the challenge posed by reigning champions Kitara ahead of their Stanbic Uganda Cup semi-final first leg on Saturday, May 3, 2025, but remains confident in his squad’s ability to deliver under pressure.
Speaking during the club’s pre-match briefing, Muhumuza emphasized the team’s preparedness to navigate a congested May schedule, which includes domestic league commitments and the Uganda Cup campaign.
“We have a busy month and crowded fixture, but we have a squad that can maneuver through,” he said. “Tomorrow’s game, it’s a different championship and a very different and tough opponent. They’re the defending champions, but we will give our all as always.”
The match, set to be played at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, marks the first leg of what is expected to be a tightly contested tie.
Kitara, who edged BUL 1-0 to book their semi-final spot, are aiming to defend the title they won last year.
Vipers, on the other hand, are targeting a strong home performance to gain advantage ahead of the return leg scheduled for May 17 as they target a double this season.
The Uganda Cup final is set to be held at FUFA’s newly completed Kadiba Stadium in Kampala.
