Alexander Isak’s 89th-minute penalty earned Newcastle United a 1-1 draw against Brighton at the Amex Stadium on Sunday. Yankuba Minteh had put Brighton ahead in the 28th minute.
Newcastle had two earlier penalty awards overturned by VAR before Ayari’s handball gave Isak his chance, which he calmly converted for his 23rd league goal of the season.
Brighton had their own penalty appeals dismissed.
Substitute Callum Wilson went close for Newcastle late on.
The draw leaves both sides in the same league positions as they were at the start of the game week with Newcastle 4th and Brighton 10th.
