The 2025 men’s Relegation Playoffs concluded on Saturday evening with Elgon Wolves and Kampani Eagles dropping out of the top tier Uganda Rugby Premiership.
Eagles were swept in both legs by Mongers; 28-14 at Kitante and 25-16 in Entebbe, to end their first stint in the Premiership after two years.
Despite Elgon Wolves beating Warriors by 32-28 in the second leg at Legends, the walkover they had given away (20-00 result awarded to Warriors) in the first leg in Mbale due to an insufficiently-equipped ambulance sealed their fate.
Full (aggregate) Relegation Playoffs Results:
• Warriors 48-32 Elgon Wolves
• Mongers 53-30 Eagles
The results mean Mongers gets a second chance to plug the holes in their sinking boat while Warriors relaxes after retaining their spot in spectacular fashion.
But for Elgon Wolves and Eagles, life is back to the tough days in their respective regional championships. Elgon Wolves are back in the Eastern Regional after just one year while Eagles return to the Central Regional.
They will be replaced by the finalists in the promotional playoffs set to kick off after the Premiership Final.
