Vipers moved within touching distance of the 2024/25 StarTimes Uganda Premier League title after a commanding 6-0 win over Mbale Heroes at St. Mary’s Stadium on Wednesday night.
Skipper Milton Karisa scored twice, while Yunus Sentamu, Allan Okello, Muhammad Salem, and Kenneth Kimera each got on the scoresheet in a dominant display that reaffirmed Vipers’ title credentials.
The result took the Venoms to 65 points, seven clear of second-placed NEC.
NEC’s 1-1 draw with BUL on the same day means Vipers can secure the championship this weekend if they beat BUL.
Karisa opened the floodgates in the 22nd minute before Sentamu doubled the lead just past the half-hour mark. Okello made it 3-0 on the stroke of halftime with a stunning finish.
After the break, Karisa added his second in the 71st minute, followed a minute later by Muhammad Salem’s strike. Kenneth Kimera wrapped it up in the 80th, capping a performance that left little doubt about Vipers’ intentions.
The defeat leaves Mbale Heroes rooted to the bottom with 10 points.
