Vipers SC will fly Uganda’s flag at the 2025 CECAFA Kagame Cup, set to run from September 2 to 15 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
The tournament, organized by the Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA), will feature 12 clubs from across the region. Uganda’s representatives, Vipers SC, will join a competitive lineup that includes Tanzania’s giants Young Africans SC and Simba SC, Rwanda’s APR FC, and Kenya Police FC among others.
CECAFA Executive Director Auka Gecheo confirmed the tournament dates on Tuesday and noted that the Kagame Cup will serve as key preparation for teams heading into the 2025–2026 CAF club competitions.
Ugandan football fans will be hoping Vipers can make a strong showing, especially with the tournament expected to attract top-level opposition and provide crucial match fitness ahead of the continental calendar.
Vipers SC will be up against sides like Sudan’s Al Hilal, Ethiopia Insurance FC, El Merriekh SC from South Sudan, Zanzibar’s Mlandege SC, MCC FC from Somalia, Aigle Noir FC of Burundi, and ASAS Djibouti Telecom.
The host country, Tanzania, will have two slots, boosting the level of competition in what is expected to be one of the most tightly contested Kagame Cups in recent years.
