Nile Rapids have become the first team to successfully defend the women’s Rugby Uganda Cup.
This follows their close 22-20 victory over She Wolves in 2025’s all-Eastern region final at the Mandela National Stadium Namboole.
Nile Rapids led on the scoreboard throughout the entire eighty minutes. Tries from Claire Mutesi, Rose Nakirya, and Shaine Babirye, plus Tina Akello’s two conversions and a penalty, kept them out of touching distance of She Wolves.
The Mbale-based team’s scorers were Shamula Kagoya and Habiba Namalembe with a try apiece, plus Mariam Gamisha with a penalty. There was also a penalty try recorded for the team.
She Wolves ensured that Nile Rapids earned their victory. Their relentless attack resulted in the defending champions receiving four yellow cards, including three within the last ten minutes. But, unfortunately, that wasn’t enough time for them to orchestrate a full comeback.
Nile Rapids have now added a second XVs title to their trophy cabinet and become the most successful team in the history of the Uganda Cup.
