Mandela Group of Companies has rewarded ten customers with sports cycling bikes through its Win the Mountain Bike campaign, as cycling continues to grow in popularity in Uganda.
The bikes were donated on Thursday as part of a promotion that targeted customers who purchased Supreme products during the Christmas festive season. The handover ceremony took place at Capital Shoppers Ntinda, where one of the beneficiaries, John Tumwesigye, received his mountain bike.
Speaking at the event, Mandela Millers Limited Sales Manager Phoebe Kinshemeza said the initiative reflects the company’s commitment to supporting sport as part of its wider corporate social responsibility efforts. She said Mandela Group views sport as an effective way of giving back to the community while encouraging positive lifestyle choices.
Kinshemeza added that the donation of mountain bikes is meant to motivate customers to take part in physical activity, adopt healthier lifestyles, and improve their overall well being.
The initiative comes at a time when cycling is attracting growing interest in Uganda, both as a recreational activity and as a competitive sport. Ugandan cyclists have steadily gained visibility at regional and international events, drawing increased support from private sector stakeholders keen to promote healthy living through sport.
