Jacob Kiplimo has been named the Fortebet Real Stars Sports Awards Athlete of the Month for March after his historic run at the EDP Lisbon Half Marathon.
The 25-year-old Ugandan set a new world half marathon record of 57 minutes and 20 seconds on March 8, cutting 10 seconds off Yomif Kejelcha’s previous mark and reclaiming a crown he first held in 2021.
Kiplimo edged compatriots Abel Chelangat, who won the Barcelona Marathon in 2:04:59, and Sarah Chelangat, who finished second at the Paris Half Marathon in 1:06:31.
The awards also recognized standout performances across other sports. Boxer David Ssemujju defended his WBO Asia Pacific and Japanese national welterweight titles with victories over Farahat Manirola and Saiya Nsubuga.
In motorsport, Hassan Alwi topped the 2026 KCB National Rally Championship opener in Mbale, ahead of Oscar Ntambi, while veteran Moses Lumala marked a remarkable return, finishing second after 23 years away from rallying.
In football, Moureen Kizza of Uganda Martyrs Lubaga WFC was named Star of the Month in the FUFA Women Super League. Her standout display against Lady Doves FC and consistent contributions helped her side maintain a strong run, edging out Marion Serenge and Jovia Nakagolo for the accolade.
