Uganda’s U-20 women’s national team have stepped up preparations for their decisive FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifying tie against Ghana, with midfielder Dorine Wandera outlining the squad’s focus and ambition in camp.
The Queen Cranes are in residential training at the FUFA Technical Centre, where they have been working on tactical organisation and physical conditioning ahead of the final qualification round. The team entered camp on Sunday and has since increased the intensity of sessions as attention turns to the two-legged tie.
Wandera said the group is aligned around a single objective, stressing both readiness and belief within the squad. “I am proud to be here. All the players are well prepared and focused. We want to give our best against Ghana and qualify for the World Cup. It is everyone’s dream to play at the World Cup,” she said.
She added that the residential set-up has created a positive environment, pointing to strong work ethic and commitment among players as key to their preparations.
Uganda will face Ghana in a two-legged playoff, with the first leg scheduled between May 1 and 3 in Accra and the return leg set for May 9 in Kampala. The aggregate winner will secure qualification for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup 2026.
