The Uganda U-17 Women’s National Team battled to an entertaining 3-3 draw against Ethiopia in Addis Ababa, a lively contest that capped their build-up to the 2026 CECAFA U-17 Women’s Championship.
The high-scoring friendly provided a crucial test for the Teen Cranes, sharpening their squad ahead of the regional showpiece scheduled for June 13–23 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
Head coach Sheryl Ulanda Botes travelled with a 31-player squad, using the encounter to evaluate tactical combinations and match fitness against strong opposition.
Uganda will enter the tournament with confidence, having faced stern resistance in Ethiopia as they fine-tune preparations for continental youth competition. At the CECAFA championship, Uganda has been drawn in Group B alongside South Sudan, Zanzibar, and Djibouti.
Focus now shifts to Tanzania, where the Teen Cranes aim for a strong run in the regional tournament while continuing to build a lasting foundation for the future of women’s football in Uganda.
