The Lady Cranes delivered an inspiring performance at the Women’s Rugby 7s tournament held in Accra, Ghana.

Building off their earlier successes, they began Sunday with a determined 17-12 victory over Tunisia in the quarterfinals.

Though they faced a tough 19-0 loss against Kenya in the semifinals, they rallied in the third-place playoff, defeating Madagascar 17-5 to secure the bronze medal.

This back-to-back bronze finish also earns the Lady Cranes a spot in the 2025 World Rugby 7s Challenger Series, marking a milestone that reflects Uganda’s growing prominence in women’s rugby across Africa.

She Cranes Make History at Fast5 Netball World Series

In Christchurch, New Zealand, the She Cranes took to the court for their second appearance in the prestigious Fast5 Netball World Series.

Facing top-tier teams, Uganda began with competitive games against Australia and New Zealand before recording a resounding victory over England.

Ranked sixth globally, the She Cranes continued Sunday with a mixed start, suffering a loss to South Africa.

However, the team rebounded, outplaying Jamaica with a 43-26 win to earn a chance at third place against South Africa.

In a hard-fought rematch, the She Cranes overcame South Africa in a thrilling 46-42 win to claim the bronze medal.

This improved their fifth-place finish from 2022 and achieving Uganda’s highest placement in Fast5 history.

Head Coach Nelson Bogere praised the team’s determination, noting that this accomplishment underlines the She Cranes’ potential on the world stage.

Uganda’s Growing Influence in Women’s Sports

With dedicated players, committed coaching, and growing support, both the Lady Cranes and She Cranes continue to set new records and bring pride to Uganda.
