Kitara’s Deo Kasozi Lauds Denis Omedi as Striker Departs for APR

Kitara Football Club President Deo Kasozi has praised Denis Omedi for his exceptional contributions to the club as the striker departs to join Rwandan side APR FC.

Kasozi expressed gratitude to all who supported Omedi’s development and called for the forward to maintain discipline and represent his country with pride.

“I want to thank his parents for giving him the chance, his former club Booma for shaping him into what he is now, and FUFA for creating an enabling environment for his talent to be seen. I thank the past and present players and coaches for enabling him to shine at the level he is now. As he leaves the team, we wish him a prosperous career but most importantly, he should remain disciplined and think about his country because we need him,” Kasozi said.

Omedi’s departure marks the end of a remarkable spell at Kitara, which began in July 2023 when he signed from Booma on a two-year contract.

During his time with the Royals, Omedi made 45 appearances across all competitions, scoring 19 goals.

The striker was instrumental in Kitara’s maiden Stanbic Uganda Cup triumph in the 2023/24 season, scoring key goals in victories over Gaddafi FC and Pajule Lions FC.

His performances in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League were equally impressive, netting 15 goals in 36 matches, just two shy of the league’s Golden Boot.

On the continental stage, Omedi scored twice during Kitara’s debut CAF Confederation Cup campaign, showcasing his talent against Al Hilal Benghazi of Libya.

His international fame was further amplified by a stunning Rabona goal against KCCA FC in the FUFA Super 8 Cup, earning nominations for the CAF Goal of the Year and the FIFA Puskas Goal of the Year.
