Denis Omedi’s Three-Word Promise To APR Fans

New APR Football Club signing Denis Omedi has made a bold three-word promise to the club fans ahead of the Rwanda Premier League’s highly anticipated clash against rivals Rayon Sports.

Omedi, who joined APR during the January transfer window from Uganda’s Stanbic Uganda Cup champions Kitara, vowed, “Mark your calendar,” in response to a fan’s request for a victory over the league leaders.

Omedi’s declaration came shortly after he quoted scripture in a heartfelt tweet, signaling his readiness to make an impact at his new club.

“We all grow tired and weary, we stumble and fall, but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles. APR FC, let’s make this count,” Omedi wrote quoting Isaiah 40:30-31.

Rayon Sports currently sit atop the Rwanda Premier League table with 36 points from 15 games, while APR trail closely in second with 32 points.

The two sides are set to face off on May 10 in what could be a decisive fixture in the title race.

The first leg between the two ended in a goalless draw in December 2024, and fans are eager to see how Omedi will influence the rematch.

Rayon Sports have had the upper hand in recent encounters, winning two of the last five matches against APR.

APR, on the other hand, have managed only one win in that span, with the other two games ending in draws. With the arrival of Omedi, APR fans are hopeful for a shift in fortunes.

Omedi will be joining fellow Ugandan players Hakim Kiwanuka and Taddeo Lwanga at APR, adding a sense of camaraderie to his transition.

The league also features other notable Ugandan talent, including former Cranes captain Emmanuel Okwi, who plays for APR’s other rivals AS Kigali.

AS Kigali currently sit third on the table with 26 points and remain in contention for the title.

Known for his decisive performances in high-pressure situations, Omedi brings a track record of delivering on the big stage.

During his time with Kitara FC, he scored 19 goals across 45 matches, including pivotal strikes in the Uganda Cup and CAF Confederation Cup.

Omedi’s “Mark your calendar” response has resonated with APR fans, who are eager to see their team topple Rayon Sports and reclaim the league’s top spot.

As the season progresses, all eyes will be on the May 10 clash, with Omedi expected to play a key role in APR’s push for the title.
