KCCA FC’s winless run in the Uganda Premier League stretched to five games after they were held to a frustrating 0-0 draw against Maroons at Luzira on Sunday.

The result further deepens the Kasasiro Boys’ struggles in the second round, leaving them seventh on the log with 25 points after 18 matches.

Having dominated Maroons 5-0 in the reverse fixture, KCCA failed to find a breakthrough this time, extending a poor run that has seen them win just twice in their last 11 league outings.

Their last victory came on December 15 against Wakiso Giants, and they will now hope to end the drought when they face struggling Mbale Heroes at Lugogo on Saturday, March 8.

Elsewhere, SC Villa’s search for an away victory this season continued as they fell to a 2-0 defeat against UPDF FC at Bombo Barracks Military Grounds.

The Jogoos, who had hammered UPDF 5-0 in the first round, were undone by a disciplined and aggressive Army side determined to respond.

UPDF quickly set the tempo, and their intent paid off in the 13th minute when Kitara Daniel powered home a header from a well-placed Tebandeke Christopher cross to hand the hosts an early advantage.

Villa tried to mount a response, but UPDF remained compact and disciplined in defense.

The decisive moment came in the second half when substitute Brian Kalumba capitalised on a defensive mishap, dispossessing Villa’s backline before lobbing the ball over goalkeeper Norman Angufindru to secure all three points.

The victory sees UPDF climb to 10th place with 24 points, level with Villa, who remain eighth. UPDF will now prepare for a tricky test against URA at Nakivubo on Friday, March 7.

Villa, who are now winless in all their nine away fixtures, but have been promising at home, will seek redemption when they host Maroons the following day at Luzira, a venue which the two sides now share as a home ground.
