Newcastle United are reportedly exploring a potential club-record deal to sign Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike.
The 23-year-old French striker, who scored 15 goals and assisted eight last season, could cost more than £70m.
The Magpies’ pursuit of Ekitike follows their recent £55m acquisition of Anthony Elanga from Nottingham Forest.
While they are actively strengthening their attack, Newcastle has no interest in selling their current record signing and top scorer, Alexander Isak, who has been linked with clubs across Europe, including Liverpool.
Isak, 25, joined from Real Sociedad in 2022 for £63m.
Ekitike only joined Frankfurt last summer after an initial loan from Paris Saint-Germain and is under contract for four more years.
Newcastle finished fifth in the Premier League last season, qualifying for the Champions League.
