Uganda’s rising badminton talents Tracy Naluwooza and Shamika Fadilah will make their World Championship debuts later this month in Paris, marking a major milestone for the sport in the country.
The pair is set to compete at the 29th WBF World Championships, which run from August 25 to 31, 2025. They will depart for France on Thursday, August 23, accompanied by national team head coach William Kabindi.
Fadilah will feature in both singles and doubles, where she will reunite with her longtime partner Naluwooza.
The duo has become one of Uganda’s most promising combinations, steadily building their reputation on the continental scene and now preparing to test themselves against the sport’s elite.
This will be the first time either player features at the World Championships, a stage that has long been dominated by powerhouses from Asia and Europe.
For Uganda, their participation underscores the steady growth of badminton at home and the potential of a new generation to break through internationally.
