Two-time Olympic champion Viktor Axelsen has retired due to a persistent back injury.
The Dane, who won gold in Tokyo and Paris after a bronze in Rio, also claimed two world titles, four European crowns and spent over 100 weeks as world number one.
“I have accomplished everything I once dreamed of, and more,” he said, announcing the end of a glittering career that reshaped men’s singles badminton.
