Alexander Isak made his first appearance for the season as a second-half substitute in a surprise 2-0 defeat for Sweden against Kosovo in a World Cup qualifier.
The British record signing, who recently joined Liverpool from Newcastle for £125 million, had not played since May.
He was an unused substitute in Sweden’s previous match against Slovenia due to a lack of pre-season training and playing time, according to Sweden boss Jon Dahl Tomasson.
Isak came on for the final 18 minutes with his side already two goals down. He was booked after clashing with Kosovo’s Fidan Aliti and had three shots, with two on target.
The hosts secured their first points in Group B with first-half goals from Elvis Rexhbecaj and Vedat Muriqi. Kosovo’s Lindon Emerllahu was sent off in injury time for a second yellow card.
The loss puts Sweden in third place in Group B with one point, while Switzerland leads the group with six points.
