Paris St-Germain defender Achraf Hakimi has confirmed he will face trial regarding an allegation of rape made against him in 2023.
A woman claims the incident occurred at his home in Paris when she was 24.
Hakimi, who denies the charges, addressed the news on X, stating, “I calmly await this trial, which will allow the truth to come out publicly.”
His lawyer confirmed that a trial has been ordered and expressed resolve to prove the player’s innocence.
The 27-year-old Morocco captain remains active for PSG, who face Monaco in the Champions League on Wednesday.
The news comes just a day after Hakimi was named in the Fifpro Men’s World Team of the Year at the Best Fifa Football Awards.
No trial date has yet been set.
