Corinthians forward Memphis Depay has explained why he was seen using a mobile phone after being substituted in Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Flamengo.
The 32-year-old Netherlands striker said he was updating Dutch medical staff about his injury ahead of the international break.
“My moment with the phone was purely to communicate with the medical staff in the Netherlands,” Depay wrote on X. “I came outside to support my team while I could’ve stayed inside.”
Depay, capped 108 times and the Netherlands’ record goalscorer, joined Corinthians in September 2024 and has scored 20 goals in 77 appearances.
