KCCA coach Abdallah Mubiru has come out to praise the performance of midfielder Joel Sserunjjogi after his stellar display against Vipers, which led KCCA to their first victory against Vipers at their home ground in Kitende last evening.
The 21-year-old midfielder, who was also awarded the Man of the Match, played a vital role in dictating play and winning possession for the visitors with well-timed tackles and adept dribbling skills.
During the post-match conference at St. Mary’s Stadium Kitende, KCCA coach Abdallah Mubiru acknowledged Joel Sserunjjogi’s performance, emphasizing his significant contribution in securing all three points for KCCA. However, he cautioned that, being young, Sserunjjogi needed nurturing to avoid losing focus due to excessive praise.
“We are grateful and pleased with Joel Sserunjjogi’s performance. He is a very talented player who is still young, and we need to manage him well because his future is very bright. He possesses the ideal physique for a holding midfielder, and his ball work, technique, strength, and vision are all evident, which could lead to further development with proper management and time. We shouldn’t overly praise him, as we’ve seen what can happen to young players who receive excessive praise; many of them lose their way. As for the future, it’s our responsibility to nurture him into a top player.” Abdallah said.
Sserunjjogi signed a three-year deal with KCCA until 2026 in August last year, having previously played for Kajjansi United FC and represented Buddu and Busiro in the Masaza competition.
