The Proprietor of Macro Hardware and Patron of the Kigezi Homeboyz Football Club Fans Committee, Eng. Joram Bwamble, also known as Marco, has called on government leaders in the Kigezi Sub‑region to fully support the club as it embarks on its Uganda Premier League journey.
Kigezi Homeboyz secured Uganda Premier League status for the 2026/27 season, becoming the first club from the region to play top‑tier football since Horizon FC 25 years ago.
Despite breaking the jinx, Bwamble — who has supported the club through his Macro Hardware business — believes the team will need significant funding to sustain its stay in the UPL. He has rallied regional leaders to back the club in the topflight division.
“We need government support through our area leaders, ministers, members of Parliament, and all politicians from the region. The money required to run a club in the top tier of Ugandan football is too much. The community and directors cannot sustain this club for long without government support. The government does support clubs, but as Kigezi Homeboyz we call for efforts through our regional leaders to secure more support to sustain this football club,” he stated.
Bwamble also emphasized that promotion to the Uganda Premier League will boost tourism in the region.
“After 25 years without a team in the Kigezi Region, we finally break the jinx. I am excited that we shall have topflight football. It’s an opportunity to witness top sides play in our region and a chance to showcase our beauty, culture, hills, and lakes. Every football fan who comes for games will also get the chance to tour our region, which will benefit us greatly,” he added.
Bwamble has been a consistent backer of the club through Macro Hardware during its journey in the FUFA Big League.
