Jinja SSS and Tornado Bees will renew their rivalry on Saturday when they face off at Jinja Oval in the only Division One fixture scheduled on day two of the 2026 Cricket Uganda Women’s T20 National League.
The match brings together two sides that both reached the semifinals of last season’s competition, although they competed in separate groups under the previous format. Both teams finished second in their respective pools, highlighting their consistency as they entered the newly introduced two-division structure.
However, the teams head into the contest in contrasting circumstances. Jinja SSS endured a disappointing start to the new campaign last weekend, suffering defeats in both of their opening matches against defending champions Olila CC. The losses left the Jinja-based side searching for an immediate response as they return to home turf.
For Tornado Bees, Saturday’s encounter will mark their first outing of the season after missing the opening round. While the break has given them extra preparation time, they will face immediate pressure to make a strong start in what is expected to be a competitive Division One race.
History favours Jinja SSS heading into the fixture. The most recent meetings between the two teams came in 2024 when Jinja SSS completed a dominant double victory.
In the first match, Jinja SSS posted 84/3 in 10 overs before restricting Tornado Bees to 55/6 to secure a 29-run win. Rita Musamali starred with an unbeaten 44, while Stephanie Nampiina contributed 22 runs.
The second encounter followed a similar script. Tornado Bees were bowled out for 94 before Jinja SSS comfortably chased down the target with seven wickets to spare, completing a clean sweep.
Jinja SSS will be hoping their experienced batting unit can rediscover its form after a difficult opening weekend, while their bowlers will look to reproduce the disciplined performances that proved decisive in previous meetings.
Tornado Bees, meanwhile, will be eager to start their campaign positively and end their recent struggles against the Jinja side. A strong start with the bat could prove crucial if they are to reverse the trend.
With both teams seeking to establish themselves early in the Division One standings, Saturday’s clash promises to provide an important measure of form and character as the Women’s T20 National League gathers momentum.
