Teen Cranes defender Jovia Nakirya has called for sustained focus from the squad despite another dominant display in their 4-0 victory over South Sudan in the CECAFA U-17 Women’s Championship.
Uganda produced a commanding performance to close out the group stage with a perfect record, controlling the game from start to finish and keeping yet another clean sheet.
Their defensive organisation once again stood out as they shut down South Sudan’s physical approach and set-piece threat, while also providing the platform for a comfortable attacking performance that saw them score four unanswered goals.
Even with the convincing result and the team’s unbeaten run intact, Nakirya emphasised that the squad cannot afford to relax as the competition progresses into the knockout stages.
“I thank my teammates, especially the defenders and our goalkeeper, for the work done. We shall not lower our guard because our mission is to bring the trophy back home,” Nakirya said.
Uganda now turn their attention to the semi-finals, carrying momentum, confidence, and a defensive record that remains intact as they continue their push for the title.
