Uganda’s boxing scene is buzzing with excitement as the 2024 National Boxing Open Championship kicked off on Monday, April 22nd. Held at the NCS – Lugogo arena, the championship promises a week-long spectacle of raw talent and fierce competition.
With over 111 bouts scheduled, fans are in for non-stop action and adrenaline-pumping matches throughout the championship.
Sula Kamoga, the Vice President of the Uganda Boxing Federation, provided valuable insights into the events of day one, praising the skill and dedication showcased by the boxers from across the country.
Day one witnessed the emergence of promising talents, with boxers displaying sheer determination and raw talent, capturing the hearts of the audience.
Seasoned athletes like Muduwa Brenda, Mubiru Derrick, and Tumusiime Nerrick exhibited unwavering resilience and determination, earning admiration from fans and fellow competitors alike.
The top two boxers from each weight category will advance to the prestigious Boxing Champions League from which th national team will be selected offering the boxers an opportunity to represent Uganda on the global stage.
The Championship will continue until Saturday when the finals will be held.
