It’s Not Over Until It’s Over – Kawempe’s Nabulime Reflects on Team Mantra

Phiona Nabulime, the captain of Kawempe Muslim FC had shed light on her team’s extraordinary journey to clinch the Women Super League title in the 2023/2024 season.

Kawempe secured their fifth league championship by defeating Kampala Queens with a convincing 2-0 victory in the final match of the season.

This triumph marks a significant milestone for Kawempe, as it is their first league title since the competition was renamed to the FUFA Women Super League in 2019. The team concluded the season with an impressive total of 40 points.

When questioned about the driving force behind their success, Phiona Nabulime emphasized the pivotal role of teamwork.

“My teammates demonstrated unwavering commitment and support for each other throughout the entire season,” she said.

“We approached every match with the mindset of a final, adhering to our motto in the dressing room: ‘It’s not done until it’s done.’ We continuously motivated one another, and through divine intervention, we achieved our goal,” she added.

The Valley Warriors as they are affectionately called are now looking forward to the possibility of a season double as they take on Byafayo Queens in the quarterfinals of the FUFA Women’s Cup on Saturday, 1st June.
