Fabien Mutombora, a 27-year-old goalkeeper from Burundi, has joined Tanzania Premier League side Kinondoni Municipal Council (KMC) Football Club.
This move marks a new chapter in his career after spending six years at Vipers SC in Uganda.
Mutombora moved to Uganda in 2018 from Lydia Ludic Academic in Burundi to try out with Express Football Club.
His impressive performances soon caught the attention of Vipers SC, where he quickly became a key player. Over his six-year tenure with the Kitende-based club, Mutombora won an impressive six major trophies.
These include four league titles in the 2017/18, 2019/20, 2021/22, and 2022/23 seasons, as well as two Uganda Cups in the 2020/21 and 2022/23 seasons.
Despite his successful stint at Vipers, Mutombora faced challenges last season struggling for playing time as Jack Komakech and experienced Congolese goalkeeper Alfred Mudekereza were often preferred.
This led to a frustrating period for Mutombora, who felt his skills warranted more opportunities on the field. Nevertheless, he managed to make a handful of appearances, including a notable performance against URA at Kitende, where he kept a clean sheet in a 2-0 victory for Vipers.
