Usama Arafat Is An Exceptional Talent Once Nurtured-Coach Rulani Mokwena

Mamelodi Sundowns assistant manager Rulani Mokwena has thanked UPL side Kampala City Council Authority this morning for nurturing youngsters and has showered former Uganda Cranes custodian Denis Onyango with praises for the achievements he has had with the South African side.

Rulani, who is on a courtesy visit to KCCA FC, noted that he is in Uganda because of Denis Onyango; however, through him, the Lugogo side extended an invitation to him, and he acknowledged it.

While appearing on the #NBSportThisMorning show, the manager thanked the goalkeeper for his motivation and endurance to stardom because even when the start was not that smooth at the Sundowns side, he stayed committed over the years to become one of the most decorated players in the history of the club and the  South African league.

“It is very reliable that with 9 PSL titles, Denis Onyango’s longevity of success puts him on a pedestal of recognition in South Africa and the continent. He is very exceptional with is his position”, the manager said.

The Mamelodi Sundowns co-head coach, however, gave credit to KCCA FC for their hard commitment to ensure they improved in the region. He recognized Midfielder Usama Arafat for his promising future in the sport. “Usama Arafat is a very special player and creative; Uganda should take care of him so that he becomes a very good player in the world”. He also added by saying that the youngster needs to accept his football potential and thrive, but coaching will be one of the most important things for his growth.

He also thanked the Uganda Cranes coach Milutin Sredojević commonly known as Micho, for how he perfectly manages his players saying that he has an elephant’s memory.

Rulani is the son of former Orlando Pirates player Julias Sono and nephew to Jomo Sono; Mokwena hails from a footballing family and started his professional coaching career in the youth systems at Silver Stars before serving as an assistant manager at Mamelodi Sundowns and Pirates. In 2019, he became interim manager of the latter club, holding the position for five months before being appointed as the head coach at Chippa United the following year. source: Wikipedia
